The last of four singles released in anticipation of Dirty Projectors’ self-titled album, “Cool Your Heart” is an upbeat earworm of a song in an album largely about heartbreak. Dawn Richards joins Dave Longstreth for the sweet, light-hearted track, which also boasts writing creds from Solange. While this retains the distinctive qualities of a Dirty Projectors song, something about this track lends itself to being played over and over, almost without notice. With beautifully layered vocals and a contagious rhythm, this collaboration helps listeners briefly forget that Amber Coffman has left the band, although critics clearly can not.
