David Speck’s project, Part Time, is known for dreamy synths and easy, laid back pop songs. This offering (new to Spotify, five years old to the real world), “Useless Information,” is a refreshing release. Staying true to his trademark drum machine base and nostalgic sound, Speck delivers a track with more drive than most of his other work. Starting the track off with sound bites of various television shows and commercials is an appropriate prelude to lyrics about the world’s constant stream of stimulation and (surprise, surprise) useless information. The tongue in cheek commentary, serious or not, is a relevant accompaniment to a fun, yet simple track.
